Technical fit

What this service can—and cannot—address

Keep a secondary pumping path available when power or the primary pump fails.

  • Advertised runtime changes with flow, lift, temperature and battery condition.
  • The battery must remain protected from water and damage.
  • Backup systems still require periodic testing and battery replacement.

Flood Ready separates observations from assumptions, identifies permits and municipal-programme requirements, and documents the work included in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you book

How long will a battery backup run?

Runtime depends on battery capacity, pump load, cycling, water inflow, head, temperature and battery age. Flood Ready explains the assumptions rather than promising one universal duration.

Can backup be added to an existing sump?

Often, but compatibility, pit space, discharge, controls and electrical conditions must be reviewed.

Battery backup or generator?

They solve power continuity differently. A dedicated battery pump can start automatically, while a generator requires suitable transfer, fuel and operating planning.

Does Toronto subsidize battery backup?

Toronto’s expanded 2026 programme lists eligible battery backup power support when connected with qualifying sump-pump work, subject to City rules.
